Description

nolaNOW is beyond proud to present our second production as a company, POOF! by Lynn Nottage!!!!

Synopsis
When a housewife comes to the end of her rope with her abusive husband, she doesn't expect him to spontaneously combust. Now, she has a pile of ashes on the floor, and a life to reclaim. This one-act explores feminism, domestic abuse, and recovery through humor and hope.

Each performance will begin with a unique opening act titled “I am here. I AM.” where local artists Rachel Blackstone and Joshua Bock will reflect on the show’s themes through their collaborative poetry and music. On the 8th and 16th, we will also be joined by dancer Rey Hope Hanson, who has created a movement piece to compliment the show.

nolaNOW Theatre is a non-profit theatre company founded by Madeline Kolker and Coco Guillot in and for New Orleans. Through the theater arts, nolaNOW strives to provide a progressive creative outlet that responds directly to the anxieties of living in the 21st-century. We have a passion for sharing stories that challenge stereotypes, uplift marginalized voices, and demonstrate the societal impact of contemporary theater. At its core, nolaNOW values intimacy, mindfulness, and empathy, and hopes to encourage others to explore these three words as a result of our work.
